From the moment people were first invited to Islam by God’s Messenger of Mercy, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (peace be upon him), the very core of Islamic Education was heart; Islam came to nurture hearts, heal hearts, unite hearts, elevate hearts and prepare hearts for their journey back to their Creator. God tells us in the Qur’an that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was sent as a mercy to the world with a message of love and mercy. He ﷺ naturally modeled and taught love and mercy by being a living emblem of just that, love and mercy. So it only makes sense that if we want to follow his beautiful example, we must bring Islamic Education back to its true essence: heart. And that is why at Kids with Voice we’ve worked really hard to develop a HEART system that puts the love back into Islamic Education.
Our vision is for kids to experience Islam the way the children at the time of the Prophet ﷺ did: from the heart to the heart. We teach kids about their All-Compassionate Creator, their loving Prophet ﷺ and the gift of Islam in ways that uplift, inspire, nurture, and spark joy in their hearts. We also empower kids with the tools they need to feel confident in their Muslim identities and to feel that they truly belong. Our goal is for every child to be filled with awe when they hear the words of God, to light up when they hear about the beautiful character of their Prophet ﷺ, to celebrate their Islam and to be filled gratitude for the countless blessings in their lives.
As parents and educators we have our work cut out for us. With all that’s going on in the world today with talks of bans, building walls and sadly, extreme violence against Muslims, our kids are confused and they’re hurting. It is our responsibility to create safe spaces for our children to come and learn about Islam. Not only do they need to feel safe exploring their religion, but they also need to learn about themselves in ways that allow them to be vulnerable and trust so they can connect with others. We all want our kids to understand and experience the true meaning of Islam. We want them to make good choices. And we know they can only do that when they’ve developed an identity and faith that is strong.
That’s exactly why we designed our HEART system; to help kids explore their own humanity and develop the character traits they need to make peace with it. We help kids understand that it’s okay to make mistakes and that it is, in fact, their mistakes that will help them learn and grow. Our HEART programs have been carefully designed to help our kids grow into happy, healthy, caring, compassionate, intelligent, balanced, beautiful human beings, insha’Allah.
We know it’s a tall order but our team is made up of and supported by parents just like you and me who are committed to our children’s wellbeing and success, masha’Allah. Over the past 4 years we’ve been blessed with the opportunity to work with hundreds of kids from all over the world and we’ve seen the amazing transformations that have taken place simply by providing a safe, loving enviroment where Islam is modeled and taught with HEART. With the help of countless kids and their moms and dads, we’ve developed an Islamic Education system that not only changes the way kids learn about Islam and how they feel about being Muslim but also how they connect with others and relate to the world around them. This is our holistic system that puts the HEART back into Islamic Education.
